About me

My name is Aljona, and I’m the artist and founder behind Rukami Studio. My work is rooted in textiles, fibres, texture and form, ranging from one-of-a-kind pieces to large-scale textile works, often created through a slow and intuitive process.

Curiosity, experimentation and the joy of the process are at the heart of everything I make. I like to work directly with materials, exploring, changing and allowing ideas to evolve as I go.

Rukami means “by hand” in Russian. The name reflects much of what connects me to my work. Rukami is the space I’ve created for my art, my curiosity and the joy of making.

Alongside my own artistic practice, I also love sharing this experience with others. Through workshops in Hamburg, I create space to experiment, discover new materials and reconnect with your own creativity.

I’ve lived in Hamburg since 2017 and now work from my studio in Hamburg-Volksdorf. It’s where my textile works take shape, new ideas begin, and Rukami continues to grow and evolve.
